The Faraday Pen

The Faraday Pen pays homage to Michael Faraday (22 September 1791 – 25 August 1867), a pioneering English scientist known for his ground-breaking discoveries in electromagnetism and electrochemistry. Among his most notable achievements are the discovery of electromagnetic induction, which led to the development of electric generators, and the laws of electrolysis. His work laid the foundation for much of modern physics and electrical engineering.

Faraday was also known for his humility and dedication to scientific progress, as reflected in his famous quote, “Work, finish, publish,” which encapsulates his belief in the importance of persistence, thoroughness, and sharing knowledge with the world.

The Faraday Pen is crafted from black acrylic and pure copper which, over time, the copper will naturally develop a patina, a layer that forms due to oxidation, giving the pen a unique and aged look. This patina is considered part of the pen’s aesthetic appeal, highlighting its natural aging process and enhancing its beauty. The contrast between the black acrylic and the evolving copper surface adds to the charm and character of the pen as it matures.

The copper cap band features Faraday’s signature and his famous quote: ‘work, finish, publish’. The copper barrel is intricately engraved to resemble a copper coil, symbolising Faraday’s discovery of electromagnetic induction.

The Faraday Pen is available in a limited-edition of 200.
